Job Description

onsemi is seeking a High Voltage Technician for the Central Utility Plant (CUP) Facilities team in Hopewell Junction, East Fishkill, NY. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our site-wide high-voltage electrical distribution systems. The ideal candidate is skilled in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of medium- (480V and 208/120V) and high- (480V-13.2 kV) voltage equipment and is committed to maintaining strict safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, switchgears, circuit breakers, transformers, VFDs, and motor starters.

  • Execute high-voltage switching operations in accordance with established procedures and safety protocols.

  • Support electrical infrastructure upgrades, system expansions, breaker replacements, and equipment commissioning activities.

  • Diagnose equipment failures, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and operations teams to ensure safe execution of maintenance activities.

  • Adhere to NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company safety standards during all electrical work.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent technical training.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with high-voltage or medium-voltage electrical systems.

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, power distribution, and protective systems.

  • Experience with high-voltage switching, LOTO procedures, and energized work practices.

  • Ability to interpret electrical one-lines, schematics, and equipment manuals.

  • Minimum OSHA and NFPA training required.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Strong commitment to safety and procedural compliance.
