The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a High Voltage Electrician in our Electrical Services team based in Port Kembla As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

Working within our Electrical Services team, you will work with a team of specialist electricians focusing on the Port Kembla High Voltage Electrical Distribution Network. This extensive, privately owned network includes approximately 1500 high voltage circuits, 650 high voltage transformers, and 150 high voltage substations. Our steel works spans 700 hectares, so at times you’ll gain exposure to a new site most weeks, ensuring a dynamic and varied work environment with fresh challenges on every job.

This role is also open to electricians seeking a development opportunity, we welcome electricians without experience on high voltage equipment to also apply, training and qualifications for this role can potentially be provided to the right candidates.

What Will You Do?

Working within our Electrical Services team, you will work with a team of specialist electricians to repair, maintain and improve equipment onsite. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following

  • planned maintenance and inspection activities
  • breakdown and fault-finding response
  • participate in team reliability and improvement activities
  • liaise effectively with other maintenance team members, supervisors, and engineers
  • high voltage protection commissioning and testing
  • high voltage switchgear and transformer maintenance activities

More About You

We are seeking qualified electrical tradespeople of varied experience, as a minimum you will have:

  • an electrical trade qualification
  • an NSW Qualified Supervisors certificate, or Contractor’s licence
  • a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing and care for others
  • experience in an industrial environment
  • interest in upskilling qualifications and tickets necessary for the role
