Job Goal To carry out the aims and objectives of the Special Education Department curriculum from introductory to advanced levels. To instruct students in individual, small group, and large group settings for the success of all students. To continue the expectation of excellence in the Special Education Department, promote the growth of the programming offered to students, and foster the development of the whole child.

Maintain high standards as a role model, both in and out of the classroom, while advocating the skills, mission and objectives of the school and district
Utilize research-based instructional strategies to adapt academic material and methods to provide face-to-face and digital learning opportunities for students as well as individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual student
Promote good citizenship, be understanding and fair, and display a character of integrity
Effectively communicate with students, parents, teachers, media, administrators and other groups within the community
Work in collaboration with other teachers, across all disciplines, as well as parents, school counselors, and other professional staff members to meet students' needs to enhance the learning experience for all students
Demonstrate necessary organizational and leadership skills
Manage an assigned student caseload to address student goals and special education services
Plan and implement specially designed instruction to address core academic skills and life skills for students
Deliver special education services to students as outlined in the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and in administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
Plan, organize, and oversee the orderly, productive operation of the special education classroom
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
Draft and finalize compliant IEPs for students on an assigned caseload
Conduct Annual Case Review meetings and Case Conference Committee meetings with appropriate participants in a timely, collaborative manner
Adhere to special education laws and regulations
Evaluate, monitor, and report students' progress on goals
Navigate the IIEP system to maintain compliance with documentation requirements
Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day

We have one high school, one middle school, six elementary schools, pre-K, and a secondary level alternative academy. We are located in Johnson County which is just south of Indianapolis, IN.
