BVA is currently seeking exceptional and passionate online instructors certified to teach 9-12 Social Studies. This position will work within the Brandywine Virtual Academy division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown, PA and serve students from across Pennsylvania in a dynamic online classroom.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required
  • Experience teaching students in an online environment preferred.
  • PDE 7-12 Social Studies teaching certification for grades 7-12 required; Special Education Certification preferred
  • Excellent technology proficiency required. Including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Virtual Meeting Platforms, Learning Management Systems and Student Information Systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong skills in working with students, families and partner schools and districts.
  • Current within one year FBI, PA State and Child Abuse Clearance

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging online instruction through live and asynchronous learning.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and student-centered virtual classroom.
  • Differentiate instruction and provide individualized support for diverse learners.
  • Monitor progress through assessment, data analysis, feedback, and interventions.
  • Build strong partnerships through ongoing communication with students, families, and staff.
  • Leverage educational technology while ensuring digital citizenship and policy compliance.
  • Manage curriculum, IEP contributions, documentation, homeroom responsibilities, and other assigned duties.

2026-2027 school year salary (based on experience):

  • $62,155 to $89,730 - Instructional I Certification
  • $64,834 to $93,324 - Instructional II Certification
  • $69,353 to $101,911 - Master's Degree
  • $72,740 to $105,924 � Masters + 15
  • $74,415 to $107,845 - Masters + 30

  • This is an in-office position, located at our Educational Service Center in Downingtown, PA.

About Chester County Intermediate Unit

Created in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Chester County Intermediate Unit is a regional educational service agency that exists to provide quality, cost-effective services to the community and its residents. The Chester County Intermediate Unit administers instructional, enrichment and administrative programs and services to Chester County’s 12 public school districts, and to over 45 private and parochial schools in the county. These programs include instructional, remedial and enrichment services for regular and special education students and career and technical education programs for secondary and post-secondary students. The CCIU provides direct instruction to over 5,000 students a year and support services to an additional 30,000 students a year.

In addition, the IU supports teachers, school administrators, school directors and school districts through a multitude of services, including, but not limited to: business and administrative services, communications services, technology services and human resources. The diversity of CCIU programs enables IU staff to interact with school district personnel at all levels and to maintain a cohesive educational network throughout Chester County.
