Job Description

Full-Time | $20/hour | Benefits Eligible

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

Do you enjoy working with teenagers and helping them discover what they're capable of? Goodman Community Center is looking for a High School Program Coordinator to join our youth programs team.

This is a hands-on, direct service role working with high school-aged youth in our afterschool and summer programs. You'll spend most of your time with teens—building relationships, leading activities, helping them navigate challenges, supporting their goals, and creating a place where they feel welcome and want to be.

You don't need to come in knowing how to run a youth program. Our High School and TEENworks Managers provide the program structure, curriculum, and guidance. We're looking for someone who connects well with teenagers, is dependable and organized, and is comfortable jumping in wherever needed.

What You'll Do

  • Build positive, consistent relationships with high school-aged youth.
  • Supervise and engage teens during daily programming, field trips, and special activities.
  • Facilitate planned activities focused on academics, life skills, employment readiness, health and wellness, and college and career exploration.
  • Coach teens participating in employment and work-based learning experiences.
  • Help youth build social-emotional skills, work through conflicts, and make positive choices.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, welcoming environment where young people feel comfortable participating and being themselves.
  • Help prepare activities, spaces, materials, meals and snacks, field trips, and other program needs.
  • Track attendance and complete routine program documentation.
  • Transport youth in Goodman vehicles, including a 14-passenger van.
  • Work alongside a collaborative team of High School, TEENworks, and other Goodman staff.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

You should have experience working with middle or high school-aged youth. That experience can come from a job, school, recreation program, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, or a similar setting.

You'll also need:

  • The ability to connect with teenagers while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Confidence supervising and engaging groups of youth.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and willingness to drive a 14-passenger van.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Availability to work the regular 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. weekday schedule and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks.

If you like working directly with teens, enjoy days that don't all look the same, and want to help young people build skills and confidence for what's next, we'd love to hear from you!
