High School Nurse

Reports to: High School Principal

Qualifications: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana

180 day calendar

Salary Schedule

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Organize and maintain confidential student health records. Enforce state law regarding immunizations.
2. Keep a daily log of visits to the health clinic. Maintain treatment plans for students with chronic disorders
3. Administer prescription medications/treatments to students as ordered by physician. Give OTC medications as directed by parent. Maintain a log of medications given. Keep medications secure.
4. Examine students for communicable diseases and contact parents as necessary.
5. Perform school screenings as specified by Indiana law.
6. Provide annual training on bloodborne pathogens for school employees.
7. Implements Board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
8. Assists school personnel with any health problems students might have in class. Maintains communication with faculty and staff.
9. Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
