The Culinary Arts Teacher provides engaging, hands-on instruction in cooking, food preparation, kitchen safety, and hospitality skills. This role prepares students for careers in the food service industry while supporting academic standards and real-world application.
Start Date: SY 2026/2027
This position offers a base salary around $47,000 plus the eligibility of a performance bonus.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

Plan and deliver culinary arts curriculum aligned to state standards and CTE pathways
Teach food preparation techniques, cooking methods, nutrition, and kitchen management
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen/classroom environment
Instruct students on food safety and sanitation (ServSafe or equivalent standards)
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and skill levels
Assess student progress using both practical (hands-on) and written evaluations
Manage inventory, equipment, and food ordering within budget
Incorporate career exploration and industry connections (guest speakers, certifications, internships)
Supervise students during labs and ensure proper use of equipment
Collaborate with staff on interdisciplinary projects (e.g., math, business, science connections)
Communicate regularly with students, families, and school staff
Support school events or programs that involve culinary services (optional)
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Education, Hospitality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain CTE certification)
Professional culinary or food service experience preferred
Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to clear required background check
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
ServSafe Certification (Instructor/Manager)
Experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs
Background in restaurant, catering, or hospitality industry
Experience working with high school students
Hands-on instructional ability and passion for culinary arts
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage a fast-paced, active classroom environment
Creativity in lesson planning and student engagement
Commitment to student success and career readiness
Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
