Job Description

On behalf of our client, DEKRA is looking for:

• High School Counsellor

• Lead and coordinate educational and informational programmes related to college counselling, including workshops, presentations, open evenings and parent sessions;
• Provide individual college counselling support to assigned students in Grades 9–12;
• Conduct regular meetings with students and their families regarding academic planning and post-secondary opportunities;
• Guide and support students throughout the university application process;
• Collaborate with academic advisors on course selection in line with students’ university goals;
• Work closely with faculty to support the preparation of recommendation letters;
• Partner with the English Department to assist students with essays, personal statements and application documents;
• Build and maintain strong relationships with university admissions representatives and external institutions;
• Maintain accurate records, reports and student placement data;
• Monitor student academic progress, schedules, credits and academic standing;
• Update and manage the counselling section of the school website and related materials;
• Represent the school at university fairs, external events and meetings;
• Stay informed about current trends in university admissions and higher education systems;
• Contribute to the development of the school profile and college application handbook;
• Maintain an open-door approach and be available for student and parent consultations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling or another relevant field;
• Strong knowledge of UK, US and European higher education systems;
• Strong understanding of adolescent development and student needs;
• Excellent written and spoken English;
• Strong IT and digital skills;
• Proven experience in high school college counselling is essential;
• Previous teaching experience will be considered an advantage;
• Existing network with university admissions representatives is considered an advantage;
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
• Positive, flexible and collaborative approach;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines;
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information;
• Student-oriented and supportive attitude.
