Job Description

Perform functions to evaluate and implement Section 504 plans. Ensure each individual is provided with the knowledge, proficiencies and experiences necessary to become successful contributing citizens in an ever-changing world.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop, implement, and administer Section 504 procedures in coordination and collaboration with School Psychologists and School Counselors.
  2. Annually review individual plans for compliance and regularly monitor those plans throughout the year. Participate in Section 504 individual meetings.
  3. Collect and analyze data and testing information and provide recommendations to administration to enhance services for students based on student needs, personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  4. Maintain compliant building records and documentation for all eligible Section 504 students, ensure the SIS is current and accurate, and provide necessary documentation to the supervisor of Student Services.
  5. Remain current in content knowledge and expertise on evidence-based practices, legal mandates, and service delivery to students eligible for Section 504 services.
  6. Organize and coordinate standardized testing accommodations for students, including the applications and forms required of testing providers.
  7. Ensure the successful transition of students with Section 504 plans into the next level of their learning or to a new school.
  8. Serve as a primary resource to building administrators, teachers, parents & guardians, and community members regarding Section 504.
  9. Advise building administrators regarding discipline issues and procedures for Section 504 eligible students being considered for suspension or expulsion.
  10. Support building level teams through effective professional learning in identifying educational needs, supports and services for students eligible for Section 504 services.
  11. Serve as a liaison between the building's student services department and the district's student services leadership.
  12. Attend weekly Student Support Team meetings and collaborate with School Counselors in monitoring interventions and their effectiveness for students.
  13. Participate in a variety of building based and districtwide meetings including: problem-solving team meetings, Individual Education Program meetings, Section 504 trainings, student attendance meetings, transition meetings, and parent/student conferences.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBSI endorsement, School Counselor, Social Worker or Psychologist
