Job Description

Sew all production covers, arm pillows, back pillows, seat cushions, apex, stuffing pieces, leather pieces, cloth pieces, and slipcovers. This provides the internal customers with products to work the production schedule. This process is produced on industrial sewing machines. The end result is a complete piece of furniture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sew different materials: leather, vinyl, mohair. velvet, suede. cloth, etc.

  • Experience in single needle, double needle, cushion sew, flatwork sew, boxing, serger and boarders.

  • Ability to sew waterfalls skirts and dressmakers.

  • Ability to perform different types of stitching: top stitch, and blind stitch.

  • Read production tickets.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures in the manufacturing environment.

  • High level of quality in work performance.

E xperience/Certifications/Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Previous experience with furniture sewing for at least three years

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours per day

  • Must be able to move around the production floor to complete finishing tasks

  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, or crouch to complete finishing tasks at a low level.

  • Must be able to carry and/or lift up to 25 pounds

  • Must have the ability to observe details of finished product at a close range

  • Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others can understand.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information.

  • Ability to operate sewing equipment using hands/fingers.
