Job Description

The HHMI Core Team invites proposals in support of the grant initiative in any of the three areas below with the expectation of increasing Hamilton’s capacity for inclusion:

  1. How do we increase the capacity of the institution to develop STEM educators who have competencies needed for creating safe, equitable and supportive teaching and learning communities? The focus is on the development of diversity, equity, and inclusion competencies of faculty and staff.

  2. How do we increase the capacity of the institution to support curricular redesign to achieve inclusive excellence in introductory STEM experience? The focus is on improving introductory STEM classroom, laboratory and research experiences for PEER (persons excluded because of their ethnicity or race) and first-generation students.

  3. How do we increase the capacity of the institution to build peer-to-peer student cultures of support in STEM? The focus is on building cohesive and meaningful peer-to-peer STEM cultures on campus.

Proposals should describe projects that align with the goals of the HHMI grant:

  1. How do we increase the capacity of the institution to create and maintain safe, equitable, and supportive teaching and learning environments?

  2. How do we create a space where all faculty, administrators, and staff are capable of providing the tools and resources that allow all students to succeed in their own STEM pathway?

Additional criteria that will be used in considering proposals:

  1. Does the proposal clearly define what will be needed to make the project successful and sustainable?

  2. Is the support reasonable and adequate for the scope of the project?

  3. Is the project collaborative (broadly defined)? How does the project encourage collaboration?
