Job Title: Helper - Shipyard

Location: 3165 Richmond Terrace Staten Island, NY (must be local)

Starting Hourly Rate: $25.00-28.00

of Duties:

The Helper is an entry-level job or temporary position which is assigned to assist with extra workload, cover absences and vacations, and supplement crews as required to meet unusual changes in the elements; heat, cold, severe weather, and etc.

• Perform property tending duties such as yard repair, snow shoveling, cleaning the pier, mucking the tanks, and painting and assisting others.
• May be assigned to unskilled job on the yard.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• The ability to follow direction.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• This is an entry-level position.
• Current Transportation Worker’s Identification Card

Physical Requirements:

• Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working in overhead structures or scaffolds.
• Helpers are frequently required to wear personal protective equipment.
• He or she must pass a respirator fit test.

Training Requirements:

• New Hire Familiarization Checklist (MCA-001)
• Yard Work Checklist

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: The Helper is responsible and accountable to the Yard Foreman.

Supervises: None.
