About the role


The Jr. Machinery Mechanic is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of industrial machinery under close supervision. This entry-level role supports senior mechanics in diagnosing issues, performing basic repairs, and ensuring equipment is safe and operational.
This job profile is intended for entry-level support staff who follow specific instructions and procedures, with supervision provided for non-routine situations. Tasks can be carried out after basic training or demonstration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Primary Functions:

o Have and maintain ability to use and operate forklifts

o Observe Company Safety Policy and Procedures; follow and support all STS Safety Policies and ISO Procedures

o Be on the job site and in your assigned work area at the scheduled time

o Must be self-motivated and willing to learn

o Handle departments’ recycling and removing of all trash on a daily basis

o Assure all cables, shackles, straps and chains are put away daily

o Keep work area clean and well organized during all phases of the project

o Work closely and clearly communicate with the other departments, including all Supervisors, Managers, Leadmen and hourly personnel

o General cleanup of departments change room / restroom facilities

o Provide assistance to Core departments as required

o Must follow the STS dress code and maintain a professional appearance at all times

o Maintain LEAN objections within the department

o Perform specialized task as required

o Maintain accurate time sheets on a daily basis

o Complete company-required training programs

· Secondary Functions/Requirements:

o Steam clean and wash parts in the Wash Bay

o Transport equipment and parts around department and between departments

o Use PPE as identified in risk assessments or other related safety documents

o Do not undertake activities that have not been risk assessed, or where an assessment is not available or understood

o Report any instances of spillage, uncontrolled exposure or other related safety issues to their line manager

o Ensure the correct use of waste segregation facilities and the efficient use of natural resources and raw materials

o Must be able to work overtime when necessary

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

o High school diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects.

· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
