We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Helpdesk/Network Technician, who will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software, and networks. Working under the supervision of senior technicians or IT managers, your primary objective will be to ensure the smooth operation of computer systems and network infrastructure within the organization. You will play a crucial role in resolving technical issues, troubleshooting problems, and assisting users to maximize productivity.
Requirements
1. Helpdesk Support:
· Respond promptly to user inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.
· Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
· Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems with desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
· Log all helpdesk interactions, prioritize incidents, and escalate unresolved issues as necessary.
2. Network Infrastructure:
· Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
· Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure network security protocols are followed.
· Monitor & Assist in cybersecurity and cyber-related alerts, tasks, and activities.
· Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software updates, patches, and backups.
· Collaborate with senior technicians to implement network upgrades and expansions as needed.
3. Software and System Administration:
· Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems.
· Provide user account management, including creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts.
· Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and company policies.
· Assist in maintaining system documentation, including hardware inventory, network diagrams, and user manuals.
4. User Training and Education:
· Conduct user training sessions to familiarize employees with basic software applications and IT security best practices.
· Create user guides and documentation to assist employees in troubleshooting common technical issues independently.
· Promote awareness of cybersecurity threats and educate users on how to recognize and avoid potential risks.
5. Collaboration and Teamwork:
· Drive the IT / technology portions of local AUC business projects.
· Collaborate with other IT staff members to resolve complex technical issues and implement IT projects.
· Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities to stay updated on new technologies and best practices.
· Communicate effectively with users and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide status updates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
· Strong organizational and time-management skills to be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated IT problem solving.
· Excellent customer service skills including interpersonal communications, listening skills, sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
· Team oriented and self-motivated.
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills to be able to interact effectively with the clients and team members.
· Ability to be in the office (Houston, TX) 3 days per week. On occasion, we may work an additional day of the week in the office.
Education and Experience:
· A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
· Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) are advantageous.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in computer systems support.
· Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing IT environments.
· Preferred: Experience with Data Storage, ML / AI solutions.
· Preferred: Experience with Designing & Implementing automation processes.
· Preferred: Basic programming skills such as Power BI or VB.net
