Business Area Rock Processing, Division Mobile Crushing and Screening, is looking for a Heavy Equipment Technical Support Specialist

Location: Flexible in the US

ABOUT US
This is a hands-on, heavy-equipment role. It is NOT an IT, software development, or systems administration position. Candidates must have field experience working directly with mobile crushing, screening, or similar heavy machinery.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

As a Heavy Equipment Technical Support Specialist, you will work directly with crushers, screens, feeders, and related mobile equipment. Both in workshops and at customer sites. You will be supporting troubleshooting, commissioning, performance optimization, and advanced repairs. Your role will involve conducting root cause analysis to swiftly resolve issues, ensuring customer satisfaction through unsupervised work at both workshops and customer sites. You'll also be responsible for commissioning new products, completing detailed maintenance reports, and suggesting improvements to enhance customer processes. Collaboration with peers and senior technicians will be key, as you share your expertise and coach customer technicians, all while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide advanced field-based technical support for mobile crushing and screening equipment

  • Supervise and support complex repairs, inspections, and rebuilds at customer sites or Sandvik facilities

  • Support dealer training and certification with a hands-on, equipment-focused approach

  • Use OEM diagnostic tools, schematics, and service manuals to troubleshoot equipment issues

  • Document findings, repairs, and recommendations in detailed technical reports

  • Provide backup escalation support for field service and dealer networks (not IT helpdesk support)

  • Support sales and product teams with equipment capability, application, and performance insights

  • Conduct plant audits and recommend mechanical and process improvements

  • Interface with NPD teams on serviceability, reliability, and field performance feedback

  • Validate and document new product performance in operational environments

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Ensure that all work procedures are carried out according to the correct training and safety standards
  • Take care of your own health and safety and ensure that your actions do not adversely affect the environment or the health and safety of any other person when out on site or when carrying out our Help Desk duties
  • Identify and report any unsafe work behaviors/practices, hazards, and incidents immediately to your line manager and follow the Take 5 approach at all times, utilizing internal reporting structures.

SUPERVISION / ACT AS A COACH

  • Work as a project lead on the development and production of Sandvik technical documentation and training, acting as a mentor to others in the required field.
  • Share knowledge through training with colleagues/Service engineers while working to build knowledge and skill levels within the field technical specialist role.
  • Understand the operation of the equipment and outline the functionality of Control systems, hydraulics, and electric systems to junior service technicians, distributors, and customers.

YOUR PROFILE

  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience with Sandvik equipment or heavy mobile equipment
  • Relevant trade certification and Sandvik Service Technician qualification.
  • Proficient knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electrics, machine control, electrical systems, pneumatics, and materials.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various field locations.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with Sandvik Mobile Crushing & Screening equipment

  • Experience in quarry, aggregates, mining, or construction environments

  • Ability to read and interpret, Hydraulic schematics, Electrical drawings, and Mechanical assembly drawings

  • Experience with electrically driven mobile units (BEV or hybrid)

  • Strong technical report writing related to equipment performance and repairs
