Job Description

Looking for a change in direction without losing the hands-on work you enjoy?

We’re open to experienced technicians from agriculture, road transport, automotive diesel, or heavy plant backgrounds who are ready to step into the world of crushing, screening, and material processing equipment.

Join a trusted New Zealand business delivering industry-leading material processing solutions nationwide. We work across quarrying, mining, construction, and contracting, supporting customers to keep critical equipment running safely and efficiently.

Our culture is practical, down-to-earth, and team-focused. We value initiative, problem-solving, and people who take pride in quality workmanship. If you want variety, autonomy, and the chance to work on specialised equipment, this is a strong long-term career move.

Based in Matamata and reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of material processing plant and equipment across workshop and field environments.

No two days are the same - one day you might be commissioning new crushing plant, the next diagnosing faults and completing repairs on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, and maintain crushing, screening, and material processing equipment
  • Install and commission fixed and mobile plant
  • Diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs in workshop and field
  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver high-quality service support
  • Work collaboratively with service, engineering, and support teams
  • Maintain strong health, safety, and quality standards

Qualifications

You’re a practical, mechanically minded technician who enjoys problem-solving and getting equipment back up and running. You may already be in heavy equipment - or looking to step across from a related industry. Ideally you’ll bring:

  • Level 4 trade qualification (heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, engineering, or similar)
  • Around 2+ years’ hands-on technical experience
  • Strong mechanical capability (electrical experience an advantage)
  • Solid understanding of health and safety
  • Forklift or gantry certification (desirable)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to travel and work away when required

Additional Information

What’s in it for You?

  • Competitive hourly rate + overtime paid at time-and-a-half (after 8 hours & weekends)
  • Tool allowance paid on top of your rate
  • Variety, autonomy, and exposure to specialist equipment
  • Supportive team culture where your skills are valued
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Long-term career with a respected NZ business

If you’re looking for a fresh challenge where your skills genuinely matter and no two days are the same, we’d love to hear from you.
