Position(s):Heavy Equipment Operator
Shift Schedule: Rotation – 20/7
Location: Gillam, Manitoba

Forbes Bros Ltd. is looking for a skilled, full-time, permanent Heavy Equipment Operator (full-time, permanent) to support our team. This is a field-based role that will require the successful candidate(s) to travel to the remote camp job site in Gillam, Manitoba. This project is anticipated for completion in April 2026.

Taking direction from the foreman or lead hand, the Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of equipment and daily pre/post maintenance checks. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emulates Forbes Bros core value of 'WE WORK SAFE' in all daily tasks
  • Follow site plans as instructed or required and ensure safety and quality is at the forefront of every task
  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Work closely with construction to team to understand task and provide feedback as necessary
  • Perform daily pre/post safety and maintenance checks and ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Understand and have knowledge with equipment operating manuals
  • Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
  • Advise the fleet Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
  • Participate in routine maintenance, cleaning, greasing etc.
  • Ensuring documentation for equipment is up to date as per daily check
  • Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned

Candidate Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 license is required, Class 1 or 3 license with air breaks, an asset
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience on heavy equipment: excavators, crawler tractors, loaders, is required
  • Operators certificate from a licensed service provider
  • Experience with the following equipment considered an asset;
    • Quick detach loaders
    • Snowcat
    • Dozer/Excavator
  • Able and willing to accommodate to remote/site work schedule
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting
  • Able and willing to present an acceptable five (5) year driver's abstract
