Job Description

John Smith Landfill, a Waste Connections company, has an immediate position available for a Heavy Equipment Operator at our operation in Hollister, CA .

The primary duties of this job is operating a CDL required water truck, articulated haul truck, loader and other pieces of equipment on site.

The schedule will be Tuesday - Saturday day shift - 8-10 hours per day.

The starting pay rate will be $32-36/hour. We also offer great family benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid vacation etc.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Operating water truck, haul truck, loader and other equipment

  • Loading recycle materials in a hopper

  • Pushing up piles of yard debris, rubble

  • Responsible for equipment inspection

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and occasional rain.

  • The environment may be dusty, noisy, and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots.

  • There will be exposure to machinery and heavy equipment, so safety protocols and precautions are strictly followed.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 1 year of heavy equipment operation experience

  • ​Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License

  • Clean driving record

  • Ability to be self directed as well as work in a team environment

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
