Job Description

Responsible for moving, maintaining, repairing, and servicing equipment, parts, machinery, and heavy equipment across a 63-acre shipyard facility while supporting safe and efficient operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, brake systems, steering components, wheel bearings, and related mechanical systems to ensure safe operation.

·Perform preventive and routine maintenance including oil changes, battery replacement, lubrication, inspections, and equipment adjustments.

·Operate hand and power tools, welding equipment, jacks, hoists, and specialty maintenance equipment to complete repairs and installations.

·Read and interpret mechanical plans, blueprints, schematics, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams to perform work accurately.

·Follow all Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety policies and maintain compliance with organizational procedures and security standards.

·Maintain reliable attendance and work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding waterfront environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, tools, parts, and components weighing up to 75 lbs.; exert push/pull forces up to 150 lbs. when positioning equipment.
  • Perform work while standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, reaching overhead, climbing stairs/ladders, and working in confined or elevated positions.
  • Use hand and power tools requiring gripping, pinching, fine motor skills, and repetitive movements to complete maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and wear required PPE, including occasional use of a safety harness while performing elevated work.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. Person.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to work in confined and enclosed spaces.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work while kneeling, crouching, squatting, lying down, overhead, etc.
  • Ability to work with a partner
  • Heavy lifting may be required at times
  • Work from mechanical plans, blueprints, schematics, sketches, and read hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience preferred
  • Prior shipyard experience a plus
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience preferred
