Job Description

Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing of all sub systems on all heavy equipment which includes but is not limited to heavy duty trucks, busses, forklifts, high reaches, front end loaders and backhoes. Must stay current and be able to troubleshooting the new complex automotive and hydraulic systems. Requires a strong working knowledge hydraulics and electrical systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semiannual and annual inspections and preventive maintenance on all heavy equipment mechanical systems; inspections include testing, verification and/or calibration of all applicable mechanical and life safety systems, lighting, brakes, steering, etc.
  • Provide immediate and long-term corrective action for all diesel, liquid propane and gasoline powered equipment which includes but is not limited to the following: heavy duty trucks, busses, fork lifts, high reaches, front end loaders and backhoes; diagnose failures by researching defective mechanically controlled sub-systems / parts and using instructional and reference manual information, technical library, CCMs system, logical and extensive troubleshooting; must stay current on all new test equipment.
  • Performs major rebuilds of automotive engines as well as all hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical system repair on all equipment.
  • Requisition of parts from the storeroom for materials needed to perform PM’s and repairs; reports all materials used in performance of repairs on work orders; documents all labor used in performance of repairs on work orders.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SCOPE:

Provide all types of maintenance work on heavy duty vehicles

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED is required
  • Technical school is preferred preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience required vehicle and/or heavy equipment maintenance experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License; also required to hold at least a class B CDL with passenger endorsement if working on busses or heavy duty trucks.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Must begin (after 90 days) to take at least 1 ASE test per year beginning with Air Brakes.
