Craft Worker Normal Work Hours and Days:  A normal work day consists of 10-12 hours possibly longer depending on workload. Hours and start time will vary depending on workload. Night shift work required as needed.

The Oiler/Fueler is responsible for lubricating, performing safety check, and monitoring fluid levels on trucks, equipment and machinery used on construction projects.

Essential Functions:
  • Service Engine, drivetrain, hydraulic and cooling system on heavy duty equipment and vehicles.
  • Monitor fluid levels on all vehicles and equipment.
  • S ervicing all hydrauli cs, moving par ts and air fi lt ration s ystems of eq ui pment.
  • Per form vi sual inspect ion of eq uip ment to lo ok for malfuncti ons
  • S ervice h oses and checks for w ear and tear for rep lacement.
  • Clean, lube and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment, tools and general work areas.
  • Inspect and evaluate incoming equipment and machines and determine malfunctions and defects.
  • Fuel and Inspect Equipment
  • Maintain routine equipment maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain detai led re cords of all equ ipment machine rep airs, services, adjustments and work performed, (e.g. time she ets, fuel logs, and service sheets )
  • May have to operate equ ipment to perform maintenance
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Help identify hazardous conditions on the job site and with equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to company and customers safe work practices and procedures.

  • Load and unload various equipment and machines from or to delivery truck.

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid driver license
  • Familiarity with repair and maintenance of construction equipment, machinery and tools.
  • Three years of job related experience with CAT Loaders, Dozers, graders, Volvo Rock Trucks, Hitachi Excavators and Various other Construction Equipment  
  • Must have own tools required to repair and maintain heavy equipment
Preferred:
  • Cat 777F Experience
  • Class A CDL
  • OSHA 10hr. Training
  • MSHA certification
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various construction equipment and tools.
  • K nowledge of proper lubricat ion of he avy equi pment and hydrau lics.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly and instruction manuals.
  • Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of and ability repair equipment and follow related procedures.
  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot equipment failure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems
  • Mu st be qu al ifi ed to drive lube t ruck w ith knowledge of lube pump s, reels, and types of oi ls, filters and the mechan ic al k now ledge of all types’ equi pment.
  • Ability to see and record written data and information.
