Finning is seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics/Electrician Dual Ticket (preferred) to support our Mining client at Goose Lake Mine in Nunavut. In this role, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment and CAT C-175 Prime power units.

Major Job Functions

  • Operate and repair Caterpillar generators in a powerhouse setting
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot C175 engine or genset repairs
  • Diagnosis and repair engines, generator, fuel system, heat exchangers and PLC controllers in the powerhouse
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
  • Complete technical documentation (daily service reports, warranty, crossover notes, inspections)
  • Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
  • Work with the Service Supervisor on various tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician, or Dual Ticket Electrical and HET Certified
  • Preference give to Dual Ticket Electrical and HET Certified
  • Valid drivers licence with a successful recent drivers abstract
  • Prior powerhouse operation experience would be considered and asset
  • Supervisory control system experience, Woodward, SCADA ,DSLC, emcp 4.1-4.4 would be considered and asset
  • Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
  • Previous Caterpillar power generation or mining experience would be considered an asset

Important Details:

  • Schedule:
    • 12 Hours per Day
    • 21 x 21 Continuous Day Shift / Night Shift Rotation (21 Days/21 Off/21 Nights)
  • Travel Allowance to get to marshalling point
    • Up to $1,200 per rotation (to cover associated costs of getting to marshalling point)
  • Customer flights provided from Edmonton or Yellowknife
  • Customer Camp provided
