Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

Polycor Group has an immediate opening for a full-time Heavy Duty Mechanic at our Quarry in Elberton, GA.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles and equipment critical to supporting our production operations. Experience with heavy equipment, including excavators and loaders, is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, including inspections, tire replacement, lubrication, electrical repairs, and cooling system maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and brake system issues on heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs on heavy equipment, buckets, attachments, and other metal components as required.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Test and inspect equipment after repairs to ensure safe and proper operation.
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the maintenance and operations teams.

Requirements:

  • Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate would be preferred
  • 2-3 years of Heavy Equipment Duty Experience
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug test.
  • Abilities to work in an indoor and outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, extreme temperatures, and work sites will have uneven and inconsistent work surfaces Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Kneeling and bending is required

Working Conditions

  • Employment status: Permanent / Full-time.
  • Hourly rate: $30 to $35, depending on work experience.
