At Kriete Truck Centers, it’s not just about trucks – it’s about people. Every unit that rolls into our shops represents a driver depending on us to get them back on the road safely. Whether it’s a long-haul fleet delivering essential goods or an independent owner-operator trying to make it home, our technicians’ skill and expertise are what keep them moving.

This Heavy-Duty Diesel Lead Technician position is based at our Janesville shop, a satellite of our larger Madison store. We are looking for a strong, hands-on leader to oversee our service operations and drive team success. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, leading by example with integrity, accountability, and a focus on quality.

This role is as much about culture as it is about technical skill. You will be mentoring technicians, ensuring efficient workflow, and fostering a positive shop environment where safety, respect, and pride in workmanship come first.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and mentor our team of diesel technicians to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Oversee shop operations, setting priorities and assigning work to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet company standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate, review, and approve repair orders, estimates, and parts needs with the service advisor.
  • Maintain open communication with customers, drivers, and internal departments regarding service updates and timelines.
  • Implement and monitor shop safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and address performance issues as needed.
  • Coordinate with other shifts to maintain consistent workflow and service delivery.
  • Utilize shop management software to track repairs and technician performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong diagnostic and repair knowledge in diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and brake systems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient with various computer-based repair management systems.
  • Must be safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks when necessary.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience beyond preventative maintenance.
  • Technical training not required but preferred.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or lead technician experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL Preferred but not required

At Kriete Truck Centers, our commitment to customer satisfaction coupled with a strong workplace culture focused on excellence are the pillars of our success. Join a team where your contributions make a difference, and together, we will continue to raise the bar for excellence in our industry!
