Heavy Civil CAD Intern – Summer 2026

Location: Orem, UT Pay: $24/hr Work Type: Full-time summer internship, In-person (No Remote Work Offered)

As a Heavy Civil CAD Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting real projects using industry-leading CAD and modeling tools while working with experienced construction technology professionals.

What You’ll Do (Job Summary)

As a Heavy Civil CAD Intern, you’ll support WW Clyde’s Construction Technology team by assisting with CAD drafting, 3D modeling, and construction data preparation for heavy civil projects. You’ll help prepare models used for GPS machine control, layout, and field coordination—learning how digital models directly support construction operations.

Sample Responsibilities

• Assist with 2D drawings and 3D construction models (surfaces, alignments, basic utilities).
• Support processing of survey data and design files in Trimble Business Center (TBC) and Civil 3D
• Help update models to reflect design changes and as-built conditions.
• Prepare files for GPS machine control and field layout.
• Coordinate with CAD techs, surveyors, and project teams on active projects.
• Maintain organized project files following WW Clyde CAD standards.
• Learn construction modeling workflows and quality control practices.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geomatics, or related field; sophomore standing or higher by Summer 2026.
• Interest in CAD, surveying, or construction technology.
• Basic AutoCAD or Civil 3D exposure preferred (coursework is sufficient).
• Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
