Hearing Aid Technician / Audiology Technician

Gold Country Hearing
Full-Time | Grass Valley, CA

Gold Country Hearing is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Hearing Aid Technician to support our clinical team and provide exceptional service to our patients. This role is responsible for hearing aid maintenance, troubleshooting, inventory management, and assisting with hearing aid fittings while ensuring a smooth patient experience.

The ideal candidate is organized, technically inclined, and comfortable working both with patients and hearing technology.

Key Responsibilities

Hearing Aid Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform routine maintenance and in-office repairs on hearing aids, including cleaning and replacement of components such as receivers, tubing, and wax filters.

  • Conduct electroacoustic analysis of hearing devices.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose basic hearing aid malfunctions.

  • Process and package devices for manufacturer repairs when in-office repair is not possible.

  • Track hearing aid repairs and returns to ensure timely follow-up.

  • Manage loaner devices and track status appropriately in Blueprint.

Support for Hearing Aid Fittings

  • Prepare hearing aids for patient fittings, including verifying serial numbers and labeling devices.

  • Maintain hearing aid inventory including devices, domes, receivers, batteries, and accessories.

  • Ensure the lab and work areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.

  • Provide backup support for preparing purchase agreements and processing payments when needed.

Patient Interaction

  • Provide walk-in support for patients needing hearing aid cleanings or troubleshooting.

  • Deliver excellent customer service while assisting patients with device-related questions.

Administrative & Technical Support

  • Enter and update patient device information in Blueprint.

  • Perform hearing aid firmware updates and assist with Bluetooth or mobile app connectivity setup.

  • Ensure lab compliance with infection control and safety standards.

  • Audit and follow up on orders in Blueprint.

  • Contact manufacturers regarding delayed repairs, hearing aid orders, or earmolds when necessary.

  • Follow up with patients to schedule fittings when devices or molds have arrived but appointments are not yet scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Comfortable working with small electronic devices and tools

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn practice management software

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in audiology, hearing aid dispensing, or medical office environments

  • Experience working with hearing aid technology or repairs

  • Familiarity with Blueprint or similar practice management systems
