The Healthy Living Educator will promote culturally centered health and wellness initiatives that uplift Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and community strengths. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering programming that promotes healthy eating, active living, and commercial tobacco prevention in Wabanaki communities. This position will be centered around the Mi’kmaq, Presque Isle Community. They will work collaboratively with Tribal staff, Elders, youth, community organizations, and health professionals to ensure programming is respectful, community-driven, and aligned with cultural values. They are supervised by the Healthy Living Manager and work within a team of 4 other educators.

Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness has three distinct divisions:
(1) Wabanaki Public Health provides community-based public health services and disease prevention programs as part of a robust tribal public health infrastructure.
(2) Wabanaki Health & Wellness provides direct, culturally-relevant wellness programs and social services including case management, peer-services, and a crisis line.
(3) Wabanaki Healing & Recovery provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT), recovery housing, inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment and recovery services, and ongoing recovery support.
