Job Description

The HealthLab Registrar is responsible for using the hospital information system to secure accurate patient demographic, financial and clinical information for Laboratory services rendered. The Registrar reviews the patient order in a timely and efficient manner to ensure that reimbursement is timely.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides accurate information and timely updates to clients, addresses questions and concerns promptly, or identifies appropriate person and resources to do so.

  • Uses organizational and unit/department resources efficiently.
  • Manages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.

  • Participates in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes, and improve services we provide.
  • Reviews documentation for demographic validation prior to Epic in Extract System.
  • Completes 96% of the registrations error free.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of those insurances which are billed by HealthLab for outpatient lab services.
  • Uses OneSource to verify insurance when Epic RTE is down or as another source of Insurance validation.
  • Uses Payor websites as resources.
  • Works independently at an established productivity level.
  • Communicates with HealthLab Billing and Client Services employees to secure appropriate billing information.
  • Identifies and documents insurance carrier codes correctly on patient records.
  • Ensures that correct financial class is selected and documented on patient records
  • Registers HealthLab patients according to policy and procedure defined for all Billing types.
  • Documents completion of account in Epic by placing a Billing Indicator open for audit purposes.

  • Behavioral Attributes:
    • Strong typing skills
    • The registrar must attend Registration training prior to performing the act of registration.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word Excel and TEAMs

Preferred:

  • Experience with registration in a Doctor’s office or hospital setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word Excel and TEAMs
