POSITION TITLE: Healthcare Statistician

LOCATION: HOPE Clinic - Alief

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Statistics, Public Health or related field required; Doctorate’s is advantageous

WORK EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years’ experience analyzing large data sets required.

SALARY RANGE: DOE

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt or Exempt

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time

The Healthcare Statistician plays a critical role in advancing the organization's mission by leveraging data to drive informed decision-making. This position works closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the Grants and Programs team to analyze data from the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and practice management system, identify gaps in service, and uncover opportunities for improvement. The Healthcare Statistician will also develop clear, compelling presentations for management and the board to support a thorough understanding of clinic performance.


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile, organize, and analyze healthcare data across multiple platforms and systems to identify patterns, trends, gaps in service, and opportunities for improvement;
  • Utilize data from various sources to support optimal healthcare management, administrative decision-making, and patient outcomes;
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and uniformity of clinical data across all reporting systems and processes;
  • Understand and apply appropriate data storage and data sharing methods in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards;
  • Stay current with healthcare data standards, regulations, and best practices;
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and clinic performance;
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for management and the board that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights;
  • Communicate analytic findings to senior leadership, including the COO, CFO, and the Grants and Programs team, to align data analysis with organizational goals and strategic priorities;
  • Support grant reporting by providing accurate and timely data analysis aligned with program requirements;
  • Maintain HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality at all times;
  • Protect all patient and clinic information and ensure work assignments and data gathered are not shared with unauthorized parties;
  • Support regulatory submissions by ensuring data is accurate, uniform, and submitted in a timely manner;
  • Submit Clinic forms and documentation promptly, including but not limited to improvement activities, responses to memorandums, travel reconciliation, supply requests, leave requests, monthly in-service, and related items;
  • Attend on-site and off-site community engagement activities and clinic events as needed.
  • Contribute to staff morale and a positive corporate culture;
  • Ensure that all patients receive the best possible care;
  • Perform other duties as assigned to comply with HRSA standards and support HOPE Clinic's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Healthcare Analytics, Statistics, Nursing, Public Health or related field preferred;

Doctorate's degree in a related field is advantageous;

Two (2) years experience analyzing large data sets;

Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing clinical data using statistical methodology;

Demonstrated experience with SQL and/or Assess;

Solid experience working with diverse communities in a non-profit or healthcare setting is preferred;

Experience preferred in Electronic Health Records systems and training of Providers and clinical staff support in these systems and other/or clinical support functions;

Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s) and their specific patient populations is preferred;

Demonstrated experience with training, implementation and rollout of healthcare software applications, preferably Azara Healthcare, etc. is preferred;

Knowledge of primary care clinic workflow and/or other healthcare experience is a plus;

Ability to interact with clients and project team members (both internal and external) to understand requirements, develop methodology, deploy best practices, and execute deliverables;

Proven interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly in order to facilitate the understanding of issues involving technical matters to persons not well-versed in technology and information systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required;

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws; Maintain confidentiality regarding privileged proprietary, administrative, technical and clinical information according to HIPAA and quality of care standards; ensure system security to meet data confidentiality requirements;

Efficient time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and organizational needs;

Strong administrative skills with attention to detail;

Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete work without direct supervision;

Ability to work effectively under pressure;

Sensitivity to needs of culturally and linguistically diverse patient and employee population;

Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing;

Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability;

May travel, must have valid driver license and insurable driving record;

Analytical mindset with good problem-solving skills;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Strong interpersonal skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Bilingual in another language served by HOPE Clinic as well as English is preferred.

Above average skills in language ability as well as public speaking and writing.

Must have good transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s license.
