We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Health IT DBA Engineer to maintain, secure, and monitor database in a healthcare environment. This includes the skills for operating databases and ensuring the data is correctly stored and retrieved. A DBA works with others to ensure standards and best practices are followed, maintain a flexible schedule to implement fixes and upgrades at various times during the day or night, including some weekends, along with a commitment to 24x7 on-call support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, create, and maintain databases
  • Ensuring data security and integrity - applying security patches on schedule or when requested/required
  • Backing up and restoring databases, as well as implementing and using failover procedures
  • Ensure ETL jobs are run and finish correctly; troubleshoot and run fix executions needed when there are issues
  • Monitoring, tuning, and optimizing database for performance - know how to use the SHOWPLAN run execution cost analysis tool to optimize queries
  • Identifying and resolving database-related issues
  • Ensuring data is synchronized correctly between databases
  • Developing database maintenance procedures
  • Managing user access to databases
  • Data warehouse management
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL stored procedures to support data integration and reporting requirements
  • Design and manage complex SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) packages for automated data workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze SQL server requirements
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, providing critical support and ensuring prompt resolution of urgent system issues
  • Document processes, create detailed technical specifications, and provide knowledge transfer to team members
  • Work off a ticketing system to track issues and requests
  • Possesses a strong understanding of both technical and business needs related to healthcare

Primary Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be proficient in the following platforms - Microsoft and Oracle (Microsoft proficiency is a must)
  • Extensive experience in SQL stored procedures and SSIS package development
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Solid communication skills with a collaborative and proactive approach to teamwork
  • Dedicated, self-motivated, flexible, and self-directed with a strong work ethic
  • Willingness and ability to provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a rotation
  • Microsoft SQL Server DBA Certification (MCSA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with additional healthcare best practices, tools and standards.
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare Epic standards and data modules - Caboodle, Clarity, Slicer Dicer, and Epic Radar
  • Clarity and Cogito Administrator Certification
  • Experience in mentoring junior team members or collaborating with a number of different healthcare systems across the US
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Several years of experience in data engineering, IT support or systems administration
  • Proficiency in SQL, SSIS, HTML, and software engineering principles
  • Working knowledge of Linux, Oracle, Microsoft Access and UNIX systems
  • Familiarity with programming languages API or scripting languages
