Southwest Care Center is currently seeking an experienced full-timeHealthcare ControllerThis position supports all SCC locations in Santa Fe and Albuquerque; therefore, candidate must reside in the local market area of Albuquerque or Santa Fe, New Mexico and able to travel between the two cities as needed.
Under the direction of the Director ofFinance,theController is a senior finance role at Southwest CARE Center (SCC) responsible for the strategic financial architecture of the organization. Working in parallel with our veteran Accounting Manager, the Controller will lead the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function, oversee complex grant compliance, and drive the evolution of our Workday ERP system. This role is a criticalcomponentof our long-term leadership succession plan and serves as the primary local financial liaison for our New Mexico clinical operations.
Positionresponsibilitiesincludebut not limited to:
Strategic FP&A & Budget Management
Annual Budgeting: Lead the development of the $70M annual operating budget, partnering with clinical and operational leads to ensure alignment with SCC’s mission.
Forecasting: Develop sophisticated rolling forecasts and "what-if" models to guide the CFO and Director of Finance in long-term decision-making.
Monthly Variance Analysis: Provide deep-dive analysis into departmental spend and revenue performance, translating data into actionable insights for non-financial managers.
FQHC Grant & Revenue Strategy
Grant Management: Provide financial oversight for federal and state grants, ensuring strict adherence to compliance and reporting deadlines.
Regulatory Reporting: Lead the financial preparation for the annual Uniform Data System (UDS) report and Federal Financial Reports (FFR).
340B & RCM Integration: Partner with the Pharmacy and Billing departments to analyze the financial health of the 340B program andoptimizethe Revenue Cycle.
Workday ERP System Ownership
Systems Architect: Serve as the Finance "Super User" for Workday.Identifyand implement automation opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual data entry.
Dashboards & Reporting: Design andmaintainreal-time Workday dashboards that provide clinical directors with immediate visibility into their labor costs andsupplyspend.
Data Integrity: Collaborate with the Remote Sr. Financial Analyst to ensure all Workday data flows accurately from clinical operations to the General Ledger.
Collaborative Leadership & Succession
Peer Partnership: Work in close tandem with the Accounting Manager to ensure that strategic forecasts (Controller) are grounded in historical GL accuracy (Manager).
Institutional Knowledge Transfer: Proactively engage in cross-training with the Accounting Manager to master the organization's unique historical financial nuances as part of a formal succession plan.
Audit Support: Support the Accounting Manager during the annual external audit, specificallyregardinggrant compliance and internal control documentation
Departmental Cross-Training and Support.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience: 8+ years of progressive financial leadership. Experience in FQHC, Community Health Center, or complex Healthcare environments preferred.
ERP Proficiency: Proven experience managing oroptimizingWorkday Finance (or a similar Tier 1 ERP like NetSuite/Oracle).
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA highly preferred.
Local Presence: Must be based in or willing to commute to Santa Fe/ABQ for hybrid work tomaintaina strong physical presence in our clinics.
Communication: Ability to explain complex financial concepts to clinical staff and executive leadership with clarity and wit.
