Job Description

ORGANIZATIONANDMANAGEMENT

1. Providebasicnursingcarethatalignswiththevision,mission,philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.

2. Notifythenursingleadersofanysituationsthatimpactthequalityofcare.

3. Obtainwardreportandassignmentatthebeginningofeachshiftandperform additionaltasksasassignedbytheUnitManagerorSeniorRegisteredNurse.

4. Dailyroutine:

  • Conductsregularnursingroundstoassesspatients’needsand communicate with them and their families.

  • Preparesandtidiespatients’bedsandlinensasneededandorganizes patients’ belongings as well as furniture.

  • Disinfectsthebeds,furniture,andequipmentafterutilizingthem.

  • Keepstheward,store,fridge,anditsfacilitiescleanandtidy.

  • AssistthepatientwithActivitiesofDailyLiving

  • Answerphonecallsandrelaymessages.

  • Attendantstopatientscallthebellpromptly.

  • Assistsnursesintransportingpatientstoandfromtheoperatingtheatre.

  • Escortspatientstootherservicesfordiagnostictestsandfromthewardto other areas upon discharge.

  • Dispatchesspecimenstothelaboratoryandcollectsresults

  • Collectpharmacyandsurgicalsuppliesfrompharmacyandthestoreas required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.

  • Sendoutportableoxygentanksforrefillingorexchange,ensuringacontinuous supply for emergency needs.

5. Assiststhetrainedstaffinvariousaspects:

  • Carriedoutofnursingcare,suchaspatientcomfort,safety,nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.

  • Cleansanddisinfectsthetrolleyandinstrumentsafteruseandstoresthemproperly.

  • Recordsthedailychargesfortheitemsusedinthewardandupdatesthe patients’ charges accordingly.

  • Maintainstherecordofintakeandoutputchartforeachpatient.

  • Lifts,turns,andpositionspatientssafely

  • Accompaniestheconsultantinperformingproceduresandroundsinthe absence of trained nurses

6. Attendmeetingsheldbytheservice.

HUMAN RESOURCE AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Proactiveinourownlearninganddevelopment,andtomeettheminimum requirement of 20 hours of continuing education per year.
  • Involveorientingnewstaffmemberstothewardroutinesandbeingflexibleand adaptable to any new service that is implemented.
  • Maintainarecordofpersonalleaveandtrainingattendance.

  • Adheretothehospital'spoliciesandnursingcodeofconduct,ensuringpatient confidentiality and standard infection control practices are upheld.

FACILITIESANDEQUIPMENT

Assist the trained staff in managing the proper storage, condition, and availability of biomedical equipment in the unit, maintaining a sufficient supply of ward stock, and maintainingaccuraterecordsforequipment,medicalsupplies,andconsumableitem specimen collections.

SAFETYANDQUALITYIMPROVEMENTACTIVITIES

1. Participate in new services, comply with 5S activities, patient safety policies, and adherence to ISO, MSQH, JCI, PSG, and NNA, ensure comply with patient safety goals, and occupational safety measures.

2. Participate and contribute to the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative certification, with a focus on promoting exclusive breastfeeding

3. AdheretotheOccupationalSafetyandHealthActandRegulations2022,which mandate reasonable work care, employer cooperation, protective equipment use, patient safety goals, World Alliance recommendations, patient and family rights policies, standard people practice, and 5S activities.

4. Carry out duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act (Amendments) 2022 and Other Regulations: -

  • Totakereasonablecareatworkforthesafetyofyourselfandotherpersons;

  • Toco-operatewithyouremployeroranyotherpersoninthedischargeofanyduty;

  • Towearoruseanyprotectiveequipmentorclothingprovidedbytheemployer.

  • Tocomplywithanyinstructionormeasureonoccupationalsafetyandhealth.

  • Beapositiveandeffectiveteamplayerorteamleader.

Education:

  • SijilPelajaranMalaysia

  • Certifiedhealthcareassistantswouldbeapriority.

KnowledgeandExperiences:

  • Experienceworkinginahospitalsettingisanadvantage

Specialskillsrequired

  • AbletoconversefluentlyandwriteinEnglishlanguageandBahasaMalaysia
