
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Provide basic nursing carein accordance withestablished standards, work collaboratively with team members, and report any incidents or issues to relevant authorities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
JOB
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
1. Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, andobjectivesof the nursing services and the hospital.
2. Notify the nursing leaders of anysituationsthatimpactthe quality of care.
3. Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and performadditionaltasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
4. Daily routine:
Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
Prepares and tidies patients’ beds and linens as needed and organizes patients’ belongings as well as furniture.
Disinfectsthe beds, furniture, and equipment afterutilizingthem.
Keeps the ward, store, fridge, and its facilities clean and tidy.
Assistthe patient with Activities of Daily Living
Answer phone calls and relay messages.
Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
Assistsnurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre.
Escorts patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge.
Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results
Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store asrequiredtomaintainadequate stock levels for operations.
Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
5. Assiststhe trained staff in various aspects:
Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.
Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.
Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and updates the patients’ charges accordingly.
Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient.
Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely
Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses
6. Attend meetings held by the service.
HUMAN RESOURCE AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Proactive in our own learning and development, and to meet theminimumrequirement of 20 hours of continuing education per year.
2. Involve orientingnew staffmembers to the ward routines
3. Maintain a record of personal leave and training attendance.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURE
Adhereto the hospital's policies and nursing code of conduct, ensuring patient confidentiality and standard infection control practices are upheld.
FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
Assistthe trained staff in managing the proper storage, condition, and availability of biomedical equipment in the unit,maintaininga sufficient supply of ward stock, and maintainingaccuraterecords for equipment, medical supplies, and consumable item specimen collections.
SAFETY AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES
1. Participate in new services,comply with5S activities, patient safety policies, and adherence to ISO, MSQH, JCI, PSG, BFHI and NNA, ensurecomplywith patient safety goals, and occupational safety measures.
3. Adhere to the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994, take reasonable care at work, cooperate with employers, wear proper PPE, and follow all safety and health instructions and measures.
JOB REQUIREMENT
Education:
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia
Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority.
Knowledge and Experiences:
Experience working in a hospital setting is an advantage
Special skillsrequired
Able to converse fluently and write in English language and Bahasa Malaysia
Personal attributes
Haveinterpersonal and communication skills.
Caring, honest, and responsible worker.
Willingness to work on scheduled hours, shifts and weekends, public holidays and any time called during an emergency.
