Cleveland Clinic’s M81 Surgical Short Stay Unit cares for patients in need of extended recovery or observation following surgeries or procedures. This unit captures a wide variety of specialties, including endocrinology, urology, radiology, general surgery, plastics, colorectal, neurology,orthopaedic, and ophthalmology. M81 caregivers pride themselves on delivering efficient and effective workflow processes to ensure patient discharges areexpeditedand care is of the highest quality. Because of the variety and complexity of patients cared for, M81 offers caregivers an array of growth and learning opportunities. This unit also has an active unit-based Shared Governance and high caregiver engagement
A caregiver in this positionworksevenings| 7:00am—3:30pm or 3:00pm—11:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assistwith processing patient admissions,transfers,and discharges.
Assistpatients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble andmaintainpatient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assistwith unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones,WOWsand other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED
1 year of experience in a customer service-related role
Experience with typing, computertraining,or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
College degree
Microsoft Office experience
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
