Job Description

Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.

In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions.  HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees.

As the Health Services Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational and clinical leadership of healthcare services within the facility. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team and ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare that meets clinical, regulatory and organisational standards.

Working in a complex environment, you will play a key role in managing clinical risk, workforce planning, quality improvement and stakeholder relationships, while ensuring detainees have timely and appropriate access to healthcare.

How You’ll Make an Impact!

  • Lead and oversee daily healthcare operations, ensuring the effective delivery of comprehensive nursing, medical, mental health and allied health services.
  • Provide clinical leadership and team management, including workforce planning, rostering, staff development, performance management and fostering a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
  • Drive clinical quality, governance and compliance, including audits, continuous improvement, policy and procedure development, documentation and adherence to relevant healthcare standards and legislation.
  • Manage clinical and operational risk, including but not limited to detainees with complex health needs, emergencies, critical incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation and coordination with secondary and tertiary healthcare services.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and promote person-centred care, working collaboratively with facility management, government agencies and external providers while ensuring culturally responsive, ethical and confidential healthcare delivery.

Let’s talk about you!

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced healthcare leader who can lead with confidence, drive positive change and thrive in a complex and evolving healthcare environment.

You will hold current AHPRA registration or relevant unrestricted clinical registration, together with a Bachelor’s or Master’s qualification in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or a related discipline. You will bring 5+ years’ post-graduate clinical experience and demonstrated experience leading healthcare teams, ideally across multidisciplinary and complex service environments.

You will be a strategic and solutions-focused leader with a strong understanding of clinical governance, quality and patient safety, risk management and continuous improvement. You will have demonstrated experience in change management, including the ability to lead teams through organisational change, implement new models of care, improve systems and processes, and build engagement and accountability across a workforce.

Experience in Primary Health, Emergency, Public Health, custodial healthcare or other complex healthcare settings will be highly regarded.

Why you’ll love this role:

  • Join a well-respected Australian healthcare organisation with 1,000+ clinicians across medical, nursing, and allied health
  • Work within a highly supportive multidisciplinary team that genuinely values nursing expertise
  • Access ongoing training, clinical supervision, and opportunities to develop skills in complex care settings
