I-77 Mobility Partners LLC is financing, developing, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 26-mile I-77 Express project as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to the general-purpose lanes on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I-77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes, both express and general purpose, and right of way within the designated project corridor limits.What makes us different? About the Role:

Under general supervision, assists in the development and implementation of the I-77 safety program; conduct work site safety observations and incident investigations; support initiatives to educate and train employees about health and safety regulations and precautions to ensure a safe work environment.

Work Shift: Monday thru Thursday | 8 PM to 6 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates/assists in the development and implementation of safety programs related to Maintenance and Tolling activities, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.

  • Advises the Operations & Maintenance, and ITS staff on safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of workers as regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), ANSI, and NFPA.

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and assess risks associated with various work activities.

  • Assigns, develops and delivers training to employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Assists with ordering necessary safety supplies and equipment (PPE, etc.)

  • Perform regular and follow-up inspections of facility, equipment, and work practices to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

  • Support response and closure of follow up items and corrective actions.

  • Investigates incidents, injuries, and near misses to determine needed corrective actions.

  • Maintains accurate records of all training, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.

  • Supports management of emergency situations which include the development and implementation of emergency response plans, provide oversight for annual required drills, and spill response.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Monitors compliance to safety protocols and requirements for subcontracted work.

  • Administrator of Learning Management System (KPA)

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree: at least 3 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Prior work experience in conducting safety audits and hazard assessments.

  • Working knowledge of the OSHA 1910 General Industry Standard (OSHA 1926 knowledge preferred)

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Skill in performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA safety standards.

  • Attention to detail is crucial for identifying hazards, documenting incidents, and ensuring compliance.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and generate reports related to safety, health, and environmental performance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for training, report writing, and interacting with diverse populations.

  • Ability to manage HSE projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations, risk assessments, and conducting investigations.

  • Ability to assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement control measures.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across all levels of an organization

  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.

  • Proficiency in recognizing and evaluating potential hazards in the workplace, including industrial hygiene practices.

  • Strong work ethic and reliability

  • Understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, as well as industry best practices.

  • Knowledge of proper waste handling, storage, and disposal procedures.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures.

  • Familiarity with emergency response planning and procedures.

  • Familiarity with Human and Organizational Performance principles

  • Adapts quickly to changing priorities and solves problems proactively.

  • Demonstrates strong self-motivation and consistently takes initiative.

Conditions of Employment

A valid driver’s license in good standing and be able to successfully pass a background screening.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Individuals must possess the ability to adapt to various settings, including office, and various outdoor project locations. A sizable portion of time will be spent outdoors on project sites conducting inspections, environmental oversight, and providing safety oversight for worksite job operations.

Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Travel to different project job sites which could be physically demanding.

While implementing safety measures, you will be exposed to the same hazards you are working to mitigate. The use of PPE will be required to minimize these risks: hardhat, safety glasses, safety vests, safety shoes, and gloves.
