Summary:

The Health & Safety Specialist role is an entry-level position, with a minimum expectation of experience in safety (construction safety preferred) and some construction or manufacturing experience. This position receives direction, guidance, and counsel from the Director, Safety & Risk Management to complete and prioritize tasks. As the Health & Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting our company safety team, programs, processes and our project teams and sites. The primary responsibility of the Health & Safety Specialist is to maintain a high standard of health and safety throughout all operations. The descriptions below are representative of, but not limited to, the duties and responsibilities for this position.

Five Key Roles of the Health & Safety Specialist:

• Provide regional and project support in the form of but not limited to creating site-specific plans, safety manuals, pre task plans, activity hazard analysis, training records and toolbox talks, support OCIP and CCIP coordination
• Maintain, create, and modify safety documentation & activities including but not limited to, incidents, OSHA, logs, training folders, libraries, inspections, observations, toolbox talks, documents, and purchase orders
• Monitor Procore for updates, processes, and usages to create reports and dashboards as requested, which may include financial reports, incident reports, equipment reports, productivity reports, etc.
• Create and send daily, weekly, and quarterly update summaries of relevant safety activities, updates, potential concerns, or other information that is beneficial to PM’s and Superintendents
• Support safety and risk related initiatives including process and procedure creation

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supporting the ordering of safety-related PPE, equipment and materials.
• Create and manage custom implementation project plans to ensure the timely delivery of services and deliverables.
• Support the review, revision and dissemination of the F&B Safety Manual.
• Support the alignment and prioritization across departments and stakeholders.
• Support the incident review process including follow up and documenting corrective action.
• Interact and interface with personnel across the company.
• Deliver a high level of service and support through diligent and proactive communication.
• Communicating and upholding the Company’s commitment to Integrity and Code of Ethics.
• Other relevant tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualifications:

• Experience in Environmental, Compliance & Occupational Health and Safety
• 3+ years of relevant experience required
• A background in safety with a general knowledge of the construction industry or general industry
• Knowledge in compliance with federal, national and local standards
• Excellent communication, organizational skills and knowledge in incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
• Problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals

Travel:

Travel to regional offices on an as-needed basis may be required. Fessler & Bowman will compensate for travel when applicable.

Work Environment:

As the Health & Safety Specialist, your primary work environment will be in an office setting but may involve work being performed in field environments that can include but are not limited to: high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor settings. The employee will frequently be required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel.
