About The Job
As Health, Safety & Product Compliance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring Alfa Laval's products and operations meet the highest standards of health, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of Health & Safety processes across the Business Unit, Water, Industrial Flow and Heat Transfer Technologies (WIFH) while driving product compliance strategies that support global market access and sustainable business growth. Working closely with R&D, Product Management, Engineering, Service, and external certification bodies, you will translate regulatory requirements into robust processes that enable safe operations, compliant products, and operational excellence.
Your main responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health & Safety processes across the Business Unit.
Drive product compliance activities, ensuring products meet applicable regulatory and market requirements throughout their lifecycle.
Develop and implement compliance strategies that support new product development, product changes, and entry into new markets.
Manage certifications, declarations, and technical documentation (e.g. CE marking, ATEX, IECEx) in collaboration with R&D, Product Management, and Engineering.
Conduct compliance gap analyses, risk assessments, and internal audits, developing mitigation plans where required.
Monitor changes in international regulations and standards, ensuring timely implementation and organizational compliance.
Train and support employees on Health & Safety and product compliance requirements, promoting a strong culture of safety and compliance.
Act as the primary point of contact for external certification bodies, regulatory authorities, and compliance-related audits.
At Alfa Laval, we embrace a hybrid work model, providing you the flexibility to work from home when it aligns with your tasks. This position is at our Søborg office in Copenhagen, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 25 – 35 days per year.
What You Know
A degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical discipline, preferably with a specialization in Health & Safety,
Proven experience working with Health & Safety, Product Compliance, or a similar engineering discipline within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Understanding global product compliance and machinery safety regulations, including CE marking, Machinery Directive/Regulation, ATEX, Low Voltage Directive, RoHS, REACH, and other relevant international standards.
Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing Health & Safety and compliance processes that support safe operations and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of international standards such as ISO and IEC, including machinery safety, electrical safety, hygienic design, and industrial cybersecurity, is considered an advantage.
Experience managing technical documentation, product certifications, and working with external certification bodies and regulatory authorities.
Strong project management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and influence colleagues across Engineering, Product Management, R&D, and Service.
About You
You are a proactive and solutions-oriented professional who combines strong business acumen with sound judgement and a structured approach. Comfortable navigating changing regulatory requirements and complex stakeholder environments, you make well-informed decisions while balancing compliance, business needs, and operational priorities. You take ownership of your work, drive initiatives forward with confidence, and inspire others through credibility, collaboration, and clear communication rather than formal authority. Curious by nature, you continuously seek opportunities to learn, improve, and translate new requirements into practical solutions that create value for the business. With a resilient mindset and a passion for continuous improvement, you build trusted relationships across the organization and help foster a strong culture of health, safety, and compliance.
