We’re looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional to support the safety and wellbeing of our 4,000 colleagues.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this role plays a key part in providing operational health and safety support, advice and assurance across the business, helping to maintain high standards of safety and compliance.
The successful candidate will primarily support Clarion Response, one of the largest operational areas within the organisation, providing health and safety guidance and assurance to a workforce of around 800 operatives delivering responsive repairs and maintenance services to residents every day. This is an excellent opportunity to influence safety culture and performance at scale while supporting a diverse range of operational activities.
The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate (or equivalent) and possess a strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation. They will have experience applying health and safety principles within a responsive repairs, maintenance, housing, property services or similar operational environment and be confident supporting a field-based workforce. Experience of working with directly employed operatives undertaking repairs and maintenance activities within occupied residential properties would be highly advantageous.
Key responsibilities include reviewing accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring investigations are proportionate, lessons learned are identified, and statutory reporting requirements are met. The role will also involve developing practical guidance, producing health and safety communications, and designing and delivering training to support colleagues in following safe systems of work.
The successful candidate will take ownership of health and safety documentation, reporting, data management and investigations, ensuring information is accurate, consistent and compliant with internal procedures. They will have a sound understanding of risk management principles and be able to apply established policies and procedures in a practical operational setting.
Keeping abreast of emerging legislation, industry developments and best practice will be an important part of the role. The postholder will share relevant updates and insights with colleagues, helping to promote continuous improvement and a proactive approach to health and safety across the business.
This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference to the safety and wellbeing of both colleagues and residents, working within a large and diverse operational environment where health and safety is a core business priority.
