
Health & Safety Manager
*Telecomms / Utilities experience essential*

Salary:£55,000 – £70,000 DOE
Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and enhance Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) practices across a growing operational business. This is a key leadership position responsible for embedding a positive safety culture, ensuring statutory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across multiple sites within the region.
This role will suit a proactive and solutions-focused H&S professional who is confident working across operational teams, engaging with stakeholders, and influencing at all levels of the organisation.
The Role
Safety Leadership & Culture
Champion a strong, values-led safety culture across the business.
Promote awareness through toolbox talks, training sessions and ongoing engagement initiatives.
Lead by example, reinforcing high standards of safe working practices and procedural compliance.
Compliance & Management Systems
Develop, review and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures and Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Ensure full compliance with relevant UK legislation and industry best practice.
Support and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Proactively identify hazards and implement control measures to mitigate operational risk and reduce external liabilities.
Training & Capability Development
Identify training needs to maintain workforce competence and compliance.
Deliver and coordinate H&S training across operational and management teams.
Provide guidance and support in the preparation and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Team & Contractor Oversight
Provide leadership and direction to the internal H&S function, including site auditors.
Oversee contractor and supply chain onboarding, ensuring adherence to required safety standards.
Act as a key point of contact for client representatives in relation to H&S matters.
Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Conduct and oversee routine site inspections and audits.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
Produce regular performance reports, highlighting trends and recommending improvements.
Support senior leadership with the development of project-specific HSEQ documentation and management plans.
Candidate Profile
NEBOSH or equivalent qualification as a minimum.
Demonstrable experience in a similar senior H&S role within telecoms or utilities environments.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
