Job Description

Our client, a leading civils and utilities contractor, is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to oversee safety operations on a large-scale infrastructure project based in Mayo The project is expected to run for over three years, offering long-term career development and the opportunity to lead health and safety initiatives on a high-profile build. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing all health, safety, and environmental procedures across the site.

To be successful in this role, the preferred candidate will have extensive experience in construction safety management, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to promoting a safety-first culture.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement site-specific health & safety plans and procedures.
2. Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
3. Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
4. Promote a positive safety culture across all site teams and subcontractors.
5. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
6. Deliver safety inductions and toolbox talks to site personnel.
7. Maintain accurate records of safety performance, incidents, and training.
8. Liaise with project management and external stakeholders on safety matters.
9. Monitor and report on safety KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requirements:

1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a health & safety management role within construction or civils.
2. Relevant qualification in Health & Safety (e.g. Diploma, Degree, or equivalent).
3. Strong knowledge of Irish health & safety regulations and best practices.
4. Proven ability to lead safety initiatives on large-scale infrastructure projects.
5. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
