Purpose of the position

  • Provide afterhours (usually between 4pm and 2 am) inspections of construction and maintenance projects to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures

Principal Responsibilities of the Position

  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with government health, safety and environmental standards and regulations.
  • Enforce workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.
  • Provide timely and clear reporting daily of safety inspections with adequate and informational notes
  • Provide immediate reporting of any injuries or serious safety issues
  • Perform and document daily safety meetings.
  • Provide Safety oversite for other special projects
  • Other Safety, Health and Environmental duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Experience in environmental health or safety or related field preferred.
  • Experience working on construction or roofing projects and performing field safety inspections
  • Job Requirements
  • Be able to work overnight, occasional weekends, and on a variable schedule depending on weather/workload
  • Be able to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding. Comfortable work at heights including on roofs.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with construction contractors and safety personnel
  • Be able to effectively document in writing inspections, incidents, and nightly progress
  • Be able to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions for long periods of time

Site Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
  • Clean, neat, and professional personal appearance.
  • Will ensure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner as well as insuring areas worked are clean, neat and ready for Customers’ needs when complete.
