Job Description
Position Summary:
The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator supports the HSE Manager in developing, implementing, maintaining and enforcing workplace safety programs to minimize injuries, eliminate hazards, and ensure regulatory compliance at their assigned site. This includes training and supporting team members in their roles, as well as promoting, influencing and role modeling high standards of a positive safety culture for the Company.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Policy and Compliance Support:
▪ Assist in developing, updating, and implementing corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
▪ Provide recommendations for safety programs and initiatives.
▪ Ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal (OSHA, EPA, etc), and other regulatory requirements.
▪ Maintain records of safety inspections, audits, and compliance reports.
▪ Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
Training and Education:
▪ Coordinate, conduct and track employee safety training programs.
▪ Assist in developing safety training materials and scheduling training sessions.
▪ Ensure new employees receive proper health and safety orientation.
Incident Reporting and Investigation:
▪ Maintain records of workplace incidents, near misses, and safety violations.
▪ Support incident investigations by collecting data and preparing reports, up to and including identifying root causes and contributing causes with cross departmental teams.
▪ Assist in implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
Safety Program Administration:
▪ Organize safety meetings, maintain agendas, and track follow-up actions.
▪ Conduct, lead and facilitate periodic plant safety and health walks, audits and inspections.
Data Management and Reporting:
▪ Accurately and thoroughly maintain and update safety records, logs, and databases, including but not limited to the Learning Management Platform and Safety Tracking System in current use.
▪ Prepare safety reports and metrics for management review.
▪ Assist in the preparation of compliance reports and regulatory submissions, including but not limited to OSHA and Worker’s Compensation reporting.
▪ Ensures safety compliance by maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring that all safety regulations and procedures are followed.
▪ Collaborates with Management, Engineering and Maintenance to continuously improve processes, procedures and methods, seeking optimal efficiency and productivity with safety as the highest priority.
▪ Follows all Food Safety and Safety Procedures and Rules.
▪ Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
▪ Other assigned duties, as needed.
Qualifications and Capabilities:
▪ High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
▪ Regular and reliable attendance required.
▪ Intermediate level computer skills and experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
▪ Must be available to work overtime and weekends with a flexible schedule as needed.
▪ External Candidates must have 1-2 years of experience in the General Industry Safety field, manufacturing preferred. Same is preferred in Internal Candidates, but not required.
▪ Must be willing and able to become a certified First Responder (First Aid, CPR, AED) within the first sixty (60) days of obtaining the position.
▪ Must be willing and able to achieve the OSHA30 certification within the first sixty (60) days of obtaining the position.
▪ Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills required.
▪ Able to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities without losing composure.
▪ Has a history of and will be expected to demonstrate excellent role model behaviors for all Company GMP’s, safety, Food Safety, and policy rules, including wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
▪ Must be able to comprehend and communicate with all levels of the team, including management, maintenance, sanitation and co-workers.
▪ Bilingual English and Spanish ability is highly preferred, but not required.
▪ Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills, both verbal and written, to build and maintain solid cross-departmental relationships at all levels.
▪ Able to perform duties accurately with attention to detail, follow direction and participate as a team player or individually.
▪ Demonstrates sound judgement, decision-making and problem-solving ability.
▪ Able to work independently with initiative, needing minimal direct supervision.

▪ Duties may be repetitive in nature.
▪ Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on an infrequent basis.
▪ Position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, type, use hands to handle, feel and select objects (manual dexterity), grip, frequently reach with hands and arms, bend, twist, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk and hear.
▪ Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
▪ A manufacturing facility, requiring frequent visits to the production floor, warehouse, maintenance, and office areas.
▪ Sitting at a workstation for extended periods of time.
▪ Frequent exposure to wet, dusty and/or humid conditions and heat and/or cold.
▪ Surrounded by a moderate noise level which may fluctuate to increase or decrease due to mechanical equipment operation.
