Rent-A-Drum Namibia invites suitably qualified and motivated professionals to join our team as a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer

This opportunity is ideal for a disciplined and proactive HSE professional who is passionate about creating safe work environments, driving compliance, and contributing to sustainable operational practices within the mining industry.

Your Quest

To lead and strengthen Health, Safety & Environmental practices across site operations by ensuring compliance with legal, client, and company standards while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

You will play a critical role in supporting operational excellence, risk management, emergency preparedness, and environmental responsibility at one of Namibia's leading mining operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an HSE-related role within mining, industrial, or heavy-duty operations
  • Relevant qualification in:
    • Occupational Health & Safety
    • Environmental Health Science
    • NEBOSH National General Certificate or higher
  • Experience with:
    • ISO & NOSA standards and audits
    • Incident investigations and reporting
    • Risk assessments and safety inspections
    • Emergency response coordination
    • HSE compliance and reporting system
  • Valid Code B Driver's License
  • Eligibility to obtain mine-specific driving authorization

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environmental Management

  • Implement and monitor HSE standards, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across operations
  • Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and client requirements
  • Monitor corrective actions arising from incidents and audits

Incident & Risk Management

  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities
  • Identify operational risks and recommend mitigation measures
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and compliance documentation

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness initiatives
  • Support employee safety training and certification compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement in HSE systems and practices
  • Promote sustainability initiatives and environmental responsibility

Reporting & Compliance

  • Compile weekly and monthly HSE reports
  • Monitor KPI performance and safety targets
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with SHE standards
  • Support alignment with client environmental and safety objectives
