About the Role

Are you driven by the desire to create safer workplaces and foster a culture of continuous improvement? If so, this role is for you! As a Health & Safety Coordinator, you will play a crucial part in supporting our operational teams, promoting excellence in safety performance, and ensuring injury prevention. Your dedication will help us make sure our team members return home safe every day. You’ll cover both the Lyttelton and Timaru sites, with regular travel required.

Location: Lyttelton Port

Status: Full-time permanent position, Mon-Fri with flexibility required

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support operational teams in implementing and maintaining Qube’s Safety, Health & Sustainability System
  • Coordinate and monitor hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Maintain oversight of the incident database (Qube use INX), ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Assist with audits and compliance requirements
  • Produce and distribute safety communications such as bulletins and updates
  • Monitor worksite safety practices across Qube NZ operational sites
  • Liaise with internal teams, union reps, customers, and government agencies as needed
  • Provide backup support to the NZ Health & Safety Manager and General Manager Health & Safety

Who we're after:

  • A relevant qualifications (Diploma or National Certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent experience)
  • Be able to demonstrate strong communication, planning, and analytical skills
  • Be confident using Microsoft Office and incident management systems
  • Show initiative, self-management, and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Be comfortable working across shifts and sites, including irregular hours
