Finance and Treasury Board is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to join the Employee Safety and Wellness team as a Health & Safety Consultant. Who we are

As a division within Finance and Treasury Board, the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer is responsible for the strategic, policy and program framework with regards to attraction, recruitment and retention, leadership and employee development, and workplace health, safety and wellness. Enabling GNB to improve workplace health, safety and wellness is a key strategic priority.

What you will do

  • As a Health & Safety Consultant, you will: Contribute to the development and deployment of workplace health and safety programs, policies, and tools across GNB Part I departments.
  • Support the implementation of the hearing conservation program and other compliance-driven initiatives in response to updated OHS legislation.

  • Support the ongoing administration of the INTELEX occupational health and safety management system, including acting as a system administrator.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of training and communications related to new and updated OHS programs and system deployments.

  • Support the office ergonomics program through provision of basic ergonomic assessments and education and the maintenance and update of office ergonomics reference materials and tools.

  • Monitor OHS legislative and regulatory changes and assist with adapting program elements to ensure continued compliance.

  • Collaborate with GNB departments and stakeholders to support the consistent application of health and safety standards and best practices.

  • Assist with systematic audits, assessments, and evaluations of health and safety programs and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

University degree in a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of safety-related work experience OR a two (2) year post-secondary diploma with a minimum of five (5) years of safety-related work experience OR a one (1) year post-secondary certificate with a minimum of six (6) years of safety-related work experience.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. We may consider candidates at a junior level (with adjusted salary) who meet core qualifications but require development in some areas. We encourage all interested applicants to apply.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for this position. Please state your language capability on your application.

Operational requirements:

  • A valid Class 5 driver's license issued by the Province of New Brunswick is required, along with access to personal transportation. Travel within the province is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates that possess:

  • An occupational health and safety certification or equivalent such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework for health and safety, industry standards and best practices.

  • Demonstrated experience in training facilitation, and the development and implementation of effective workplace health and safety programs.

  • Ability to operate sound level meters, noise dosimeters, and assess workplace noise exposures.

Due to the nature of the position and operational requirements, the successful candidate must perform their duties on-site from the designated office location and be able to travel to workplaces as required. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Salary:

Pay Band 04 - $59,046 to $82,576 per annum
