The Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Branch creates value by protecting people, supporting operational performance and enabling organisational resilience through effective risk management, safety leadership, fitness for work programs and environmental stewardship.

The Role

The Health Safety and Environmental Specialist provide specialist environmental advice to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and Council requirements. In this role you will contribute to environmental risk management, environmental performance improvement, and the continuous improvement of environmental management systems.

We are looking for an environmental specialist with extensive experience undertaking environmental risk assessments, completing investigations, and providing advice. A specialist to join and work with our teams to support compliance with environmental legislation and help to facilitate the continual improvement in Public Transport Services environmental management systems.

In this role you will:

• provide specialist environmental advice to operational areas
• support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of environmental management systems
• undertake environmental risk assessments and support the identification and implementation of effective environmental controls
• monitor environmental performance, analyse trends and prepare reports
• support environmental incident and non-compliance investigations
• contribute to environmental awareness and capability uplift across the business
• maintain accurate environmental records and documentation.

To be successful you will have:

• demonstrated experience providing environmental advice in a complex operational environment
• sound knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
• demonstrated experience supporting the implementation and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems
• experience in environmental risk assessment, monitoring and reporting
• highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
