
Health & Safety Advisor
Location:Worcester (remote / field-based)
Salary:£40,000 – £45,000 + Company Van or Car Allowance
Travel:Across the West Midlands (M5 corridor)
An established and growing utilities and civil engineering contractor has recently secured a major long-term infrastructure contract (8 years), creating an opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join the team. This role is suited to someone with practical, “boots on the ground” experience who is comfortable working closely with operational teams across live sites.
The position will involve supporting operational managers, auditing site activities, and promoting strong health and safety standards across projects. Experience within utilities, civils or construction environments would be advantageous, though not essential.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety and operational standards.
Support operational teams and managers with guidance on safe systems of work.
Review and contribute to Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Lead or support incident investigations, near-miss reviews and corrective actions.
Compile safety reports, briefings and client updates where required.
Promote a proactive safety culture, challenging unsafe behaviours and conditions.
Deliver safety communications, including toolbox talks, safety alerts and briefings.
Support inductions, training compliance and competency tracking.
Maintain accurate records in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
Requirements
Essential
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
Good working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence teams on-site.
Full UK driving licence.
Comfortable working in a site-based / operational environment (“muddy boots”).
Desirable
Experience within utilities, civil engineering or construction environments.
Experience conducting audits and incident investigations.
Ability to produce reports and analyse audit findings.
