Why this role matters:
The Health Room Administrator is responsible for coordinating the daily routine of the Health Room and communicating any health-related concerns or issues to the Head Nurse and Camp Director working within the guidelines of the Bender JCC of Greater Washington.
Core Responsibilities include:
- Set up and oversee the smooth running of the Health Room(s), maintaining inventory and coordinating purchases with the Head Nurse.
- Complete pre-camp work, including preparing camper and staff medical files, collecting all required forms and signatures, and communicating with parents regarding the forms.
- Answer phone and communicate information to appropriate people. Log all phone calls.
- Direct parent concerns to appropriate staff members.
- Triage campers as they arrive in the health room.
- Coordinate with Shelf Room Coordinator to ensure all allergies are accounted for with snack distribution.
- Maintain camper and staff medical records. Ensure staff and camper health examinations are current and on file.
- Prepare and utilize daily medical log for treatment and medications.
- Prepare and record incident and accident reports forms as required.
- Report any health problems or symptoms of illness to the Head Nurse or Camp Director.
- Assist in packing up the medical supplies at the end of the summer.
- Take part in the daily set-up and clean-up of the health room.
- Attend all orientation sessions and staff meetings.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:
- Prior experience working with school aged children.
- Ability to engage with campers and staff of all ages.
- Comfort level working with children with a wide range of abilities.
- Able to read and follow directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders, and parent letters.
- Able to communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically with parents, staff, and administration about camper health concerns.
- The ability to change soiled clothes as needed.
- Must be able to go outside, travel long distances and lift 50 pounds.
- CPR and First Aid certified with experience in first aid and emergency management.
- Community health knowledge.
- Trained in using an AED.
- Must be able to get to and from work each day.
- Knowledge of, and respect for, the mission of the Bender JCC of Greater Washington.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the Bender JCC of Greater Washington, including its Personnel Handbook, and to abide by them.
- Work in a team environment.
- Communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing.
Priority will be given to candidates who are available the entire camp season starting on June 15 going through mid-August

Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $6,000-6500 (total pay for the regular camp season). Salary is determined based on experience including previous experience at Lessans Camp JCC.
