
The Utah Public Health Laboratory is looking for innovative, proactive person with fresh ideas and the desire to help the public in educating them in newborn screening. Main role includes educating healthcare professionals and families about newborn screening processes, disorders, and follow-up care to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment for newborns with potentially serious conditions. Public health educator or nurse educator is preferred. Travel throughout the state is required. Due to the nature of this position, compliance to the Utah Department of Health Employee Immunization policy is required.
FT / PT Status – Full-Time

Salary – $26.61 - $42.22 Hourly Wage

Educate healthcare providers, including nurses and midwives, and families about the importance of newbornscreening, the tests performed and what happens if a baby’s screening is abnormalCreate and update educational programs and resources for various audiences involved in the NBS process.Assess the quality and effectiveness of educational interventions to ensure they are improving follow-up andeducation within the newborn screening systemShare information on new disorders, best practices, and policies to relevant stakeholders Ensure the integrity and appropriateness of newborn screening samples by identifying invalid specimens, resolving collection kit errors, securing missing data, and providing high-quality phone support to clinical partners.Manage operational workflows for the Newborn Screening Advisory Committee, encompassing public meeting notifications, active committee attendance, and the drafting and finalization of compliance-ready meeting minutes.
Bachelors in Public Health or Nursing or equivalent experience.1-2 years’ experience in public health educationPassion for public service and newbornsAbility to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing.Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally
